We had our appointment today with the new neurologist and with the sleep lab for Xander's EEG. This test shows no seizure pattern or activity. However the doctor decided to tell for sure he wanted us to bring home an EEG machine for the weekend and back to Boise on Monday. Once Xander has 3 episodes that I can record on this machine then I can call the number and hope the on call doctor would like to come in to remove this contraption. Until then I was sent home with at least twenty roles of gauze and various wrapping supplies. Poor guy gets to lug around a little box in a pack. And there's a smaller box taped to his head with about 30 electrodes under all the bandages they put on him. He also has two pads on his back for his heart rate that he keeps pulling off. I had to play with him in my room until almost eleven tonight before I could lay him down and trust that he wouldn't pull at the cords. Eva was asleep by 9 which they usually go down around 7 but slept all day in the van. The next 3 days will be interesting. If we can't get 3 recorded before Monday then I have to return then. I took some pictures while they were hooking him up because I had nothing else to do with my hands and was nervous while they got it all ready. This test though is what we wanted, it will tell us for sure if there is any seizure activity at the same time as these episodes occur. It at least will rule out epilepsy. So wish me luck for 3 days and nights of having to pack him around with this machine or keep him and his sister from pulling it all off and messing the whole test up!
Eva rode in style with Daddy at the mall
He slept for the first two hours on the way home, then he started scratching and pulling at the front of his head. I had to rewrap it once we got home so it's now bright green at the bottom and blue on top. Soon he'll be a rainbow.
